Bridal Beauty Bootcamp: Must-Have Pre-Wedding Treatments

The big day is coming up quickly — you’re about to get married! But before you walk down the aisle, you probably want to look picture perfect. If perfection is your bridal goal, then here are a few cosmetic dermatology treatments you can’t miss out on.

Dermaplaning

The purpose of this dermatological treatment is much the same as a chemical peel or facial. During this treatment, your dermatologist will use a sharp razor to scrape off dead skin cells and fine vellus hairs on your face and jaw to reveal the smooth skin underneath. Dermaplaning helps improve the appearance of skin tone and texture. By removing dead skin cells and fine facial hairs, dermaplaning can brighten your skin right up. The peach fuzz that it removes often dulls the appearance of your skin. Without it, you can get a natural glowy look to your skin. Not only that, but you’ll have an incredibly smooth surface to work with as you apply your wedding day makeup. When you want to look picture perfect walking down the aisle, a great base for your wedding makeup is an absolute must. This procedure also has no downtime, which means you could invest in dermaplaning just days before your wedding.

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel, as we touched on above, is designed to help even skin tone and brighten up your skin. This is a pre-wedding skin treatment you can’t afford to miss out on! Not only can it reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but it can also help minimize the appearance of acne scars. The only thing you need to keep in mind if you want to invest in a chemical peel is that the results take time to fully reveal themselves. In most cases, you’ll need anywhere from three to six treatments to see optimal results. With two weeks between each treatment, you should leave yourself at least three months between your first treatment and your wedding day. This will help you avoid any residual redness, skin sensitivity, or subpar results going into your big day.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion, much like the previous two treatments we discussed above, has the goal of tightening, brightening, and smoothing out the surface of your skin. This is an intense form of exfoliation that quite literally removes the topmost layers of your skin to reveal the smooth, new skin underneath. Not only does this treatment offer a smoother skin texture afterwards, it also offers a youthful glow. There are multiple types of microdermabrasion machines and methods, so it’s a good idea to speak with your dermatologist about which may be best for your skin. In addition, it does take multiple treatments to achieve optimal results. It’s recommended to start treatment about six months before your big day, so be prepared to plan ahead!

Getting ready for your wedding day can feel impossibly stressful at times. If you have questions about what kind of pre-wedding treatments would be best for you or you’re ready to book an appointment, set up your consultation with SE Dermatology Specialists today.
