Microneedling, Radio Frequency Microneedling
What is Microneedling and Radio Frequency Microneedling (RFMN)
Micro-needling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a minimally invasive treatment that has been used for decades to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles or pins creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, which triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin. Results can include improved texture and firmness, as well as skin resurfacing. RF micro-needling adds the element of radiofrequency energy to the traditional micro-needling procedure. The RF energy is delivered via small needles into the dermis. In addition to the benefits seen with the micro-injury provided by the traditional microneedles, RF micro-needling also delivers RF energy deep into the dermis further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction.
What is a microneedling treatment like?
Treatment may vary from 45 to 60 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. First, the treated area is cleaned, and a topical numbing cream is applied. The numbing will sit for 30 minutes and will then be cleansed off. Pure hyaluronic acid is applied to the skin and will be microneedled into the face one section at a time. After treatment is completed, aftercare products are applied.
Are there any possible side effects to microneedling?
The skin may look red and even swollen after microneedling. The degree of swelling (if any) will depend on skin sensitivity and the aggressiveness of the treatment. When swelling does occur, it is usually subtle and subsides in about three days. A cold compress can help reduce swelling and bring down inflammation.
What improvement will I see from microneedling?
While results vary from person to person, you may notice some improvement of your skin’s tone and texture as early as 2-3 weeks after your first session. Three months after treatment is when collagen has fully formed and when you will see maximum results. Keep in mind that you will see more improvements the more treatments you do. Home care will be a big factor in reaching you desired results as well.
